Interview with Tane du Breuil

Taken from the Book Savvy Babe blog during the Immortal Surrender Blog Tour.

Name: Tane du Breuil
Profession: Templar Knight
Age: over 900 years
Height: 5'11"
Eyes: sharp green

Good morning, Tane. I hope you’re faring well. And thanks so much for taking time out of your busy schedule with builders to meet with me.

Tane: You are most welcome, milady. The company is nice.

Is there any chance that we can get a little more detail into your story before joining the Knights Templar?

Tane: ‘Tis not all excitement, milady, but a rather simple tale. I was lord and master of my own estate and enjoyed much luxury. ‘Twas a simple life for the most part, and I possessed a loving wife. She passed early. I joined the Templar. As part of my oaths, all I owned was given to the Order. And here I am.

Now that you’ve received the funds to start the homeless teens’ shelter, how are Marie and David doing? Are they finally safe?

Tane: Aye, indeed! Marie and David are stable with a solid roof over their heads. Their bellies are full. David has been able to stay in school, and Marie is helping me presently. My hopes are she will return to school as well, but she has her own demons to battle before she will be ready.

Demons of the literal kind?

Tane: (He chuckles.) Nay, of the personal nature.

Shew! Worried me there for a minute. So we know Anne has forgiven you, but Merrick has yet to. What are you feelings on this?

Tane: (He offers a pensive, one-shoulder shrug.) ‘Tis no less than I deserve. I dishonored my brother. ‘Twas his right to seek retribution by the sword. I live still, and I accept the consequences of my actions.

Do you think that you will ever be welcomed back?

Tane: ‘Tis my fondest hope that I shall be allowed to return to duties and prove my worth once again.

You weren’t present often for obvious reasons throughout Farran’s story, but how do you feel that the second seraph has been matched.

Tane: In truth, ‘tis a mite bittersweet. I am happy for my brother. I cannot help but feel a degree of envy that ‘twas not myself. Though I am also coming to accept that I shall not likely be offered that redemption. My trespasses are too great.

But everyone deserves a chance right?

Tane: (He again shrugs, but the hardness in his eyes reveals unmentioned pain.) The archangels are a curious lot. Only the mighty Gabriel knows what will come to whom.

Well, I’m pulling for you. Meanwhile, good luck with the shelter. It’s such a great thing you’ve started.

Tane: Thank you, milady. May your paths be safe as well.
